Majken is here!

priestess | September 1, 2010

Friday 20 August, we took the decision to go to Västervik, 4 days before the expected date of delivery. I had not had any regular contractions but iom that Molly came two days early, we did not take a chance and give birth on the way to the hospital.

On Sunday evening around 21.00 I had around 6-7 minutes between contractions and an hour later, 3 minutes. Suddenly, it was only 1 minute between two contractions and I said to Uffe "I am now starting to get scared." He called the birth who thought we should get into. Shortly after we arrived, my waters broke and after they examined me, we found out that I had opened myself 1 cm. I was not exactly surprised though contractions were properly strong. As I waited for Molly, I had pain for quite a while before I opened myself.

Until the next hour, took pains in earnest and it made unimaginably worse. I wanted to, like Molly, give birth without drugs and I got to eat. They next 45 minutes were the most painful thing in my life. The birth was at rocket speed. From that I opened my 3 cm to the baby came, it was only 45 minutes. The midwives could not believe their eyes when I cried that "the baby is coming!! I was losing focus and screaming so loud that Uffe is becoming deaf. The needle from his hand and let it sprays blood everywhere and I'm about to fall out of bed (this I remember nothing of). The midwives are nervous that the baby will fall out of bed and ordered me to turn my back. I scream "you do not touch me"!

After I finally turned me on, take them off the nitrous oxide and I am completely devastated. They tell me to focus on what they say and I obey blindly each straining. A few minutes later born beautiful girl doing admirably well. She is on my chest and Uffe may cut the umbilical cord. We both crack up with joy when we see that there is a little girl, so urgently desired. Finally we have our Molly!

Everything was hysterically fast. We came in 23:30 and 01:21 August 23 Majken was born. She weighing 3365 kg and were 50 cm long. I opened my 1-10 cm in two hours. No wonder that the pain was so intense.

Molly is a copy of Molly when she was newborn. She is so divinely fine! After a few days on the bb so one discovers that Molly has jaundice. It is not at all uncommon in newborns but iom that we have different blood types, it becomes harder for her to break down the bilirubin that is formed. Her values were too high so she can lie in a special phototherapy machine that allows the bilirubin is excreted via urine and feces. In two days she lay fixed on his back in a harness and I was just taking her out when feeding. The values did not get better so me and Molly had to move up to the Neonatal Department, which has been more effective "solarium." The light was so strong that she had sex with a blindfold on.

For me it was incredibly difficult to let go of me Molly and see her lying in the machine without being able to raise her. The staff were fantastic and assured me that she was not suffering or in pain. I had to stay in a room next to Molly and I got very pampered and taken care of this wonderful staff. After one day of treatment, her values finally went down and a week after we came to birth, we finally got to go home!

This week was very tumultuous for us all. A cascade of mixed emotions swept over us. From the immense good fortune to have a shapely and beautiful little girl to be showered with concern and anxiety over her health.

The day that Molly was born, wooed Uffe to me! He had with Molly selected the finest rings I've seen and I said of course YES!

Today feels Majken well and has steadily gained weight. She is a calm girl who adapts to each situation. Molly really like her little sister and provide her with everything from feeding, juice cup, hairbrush haha. I never thought a baby could be so calm and peaceful :) We love our girls to death and I can not understand what we did to deserve them!
