Accommodation

Housing in Malaysia is expensive, dirty and extremely rarely pleasant. It is also fully in many places, even if one has previously looked into as there is space. Places named "Resorts" or designated as "first class" turns out not to be too little guest house, etc.. Does the hotel have the word "Beach" in the name, you can be sure that it is not near a beach.
Food

Starting at the top. The only food that is okay in this country is not Malaysian, but Indian and Thai. Sure you can survive on pasta and Tikka Masala, but we would have liked a little better domestic food. The beer is usually also Denmark.
Sun & Bath

Brown beaches, far from white. Often cloudy water, but close to wildlife can weigh up the score. Quite often grows palms and trees far out on the sandy beach and it's nice to sit under a palm tree and watch the birds leap into the branches above.
Accessibility and Transport

Easy and cheap to travel by bus between cities. Buses leave when they want, where they are going. The people are helpful and make sure you have the correct box office / bus / station. Although not as easy as in Thailand where travel agents turn tie themselves into knots in order to rise to meet you wherever you want to travel.
The rule "all at once" applies to all its buses and boats at the disembarkation which can be frustrating in the long run.
Tours & Attractions
We have been too short a time in Malaysia to rate yet.
Value for Money

It is possible to live cheaply in Malaysia but the standard is seldom anything to hang on the Christmas tree. Compared to other popular parts of Asia, the country is much less affordable. They often pay more for a lower standard than such as Thailand. While it is cheap to travel within the country.
Total

Not as nice country than its neighbor to the northwest. Might be worth a visit to shop for electronics in case you are nearby. We do not recommend that only come here if it is bad and food you're after.
